Highly Recommended Reading: Poor Economics: A Radical Rethinking of the Way to Fight Global Poverty

It's been a while since I've posted on my blog; life and work got extremely busy but I've been fortunate to have some downtime.

During that downtime, I read a book: Poor Economics: A Radical Rethinking of the Way to Fight Global Poverty by Abhijit V. Banerjee and Esther Duflo. At a very high level, the book discusses the historical attempted ways to alleviate global poverty, through case examples, and goes farther to discuss what went well and what didn't; most importantly, it discusses why they didn't.

My biggest takeaway is that there is no single solution to alleviating global poverty. It is going to take a complex blend of education and information, reducing responsibility for certain aspects of the lives of the impoverished, microfinancing, proper institutions, and hope.

Find the book here. 10/10 suggest buying it.
